Wall to Rock Progression Courses in the Lake District

Is this the course for me?

You've been climbing regularly at your local wall, and you're ready for the progression to trad outdoor climbing. Or maybe you've got your Climbing Wall Award or Climbing Wall Instructor, and you'd like to work towards becoming a Rock Climbing Instructor.

What level of fitness do I need?

Fitness level 1: you exercise regularly through the week for short periods, and regularly do more, eg a half day walk in the hills at the weekend.

What does the course cover?

This course breaks down outdoor climbing into bite-sized parts. You will cover:

  • using a harness and helmet

  • movement skills

  • belaying

  • rope management

  • climbing calls

  • setting up top ropes

  • selection of anchors

  • building belays

  • placing and removing gear

  • abseils

What's the maximum ratio?

1:4
