We had a fantastic few days earlier this month, with great winter climbing conditions - sadly short-lived!
Read MoreFantastic day out today on Helvellyn with Chris Moore and Rory Tunnah - a day of lovely sunshine and cold winds. We climbed Viking Buttress (IV 5) and Blade Runner (IV 4). Great views from the summit, so good to see the Lakes in a winter blanket.
Read MoreI had a quick trip out today with Pippa, up Helvellyn from Red Tarn, to see if the snow was good enough to climb. The buttresses are covered in a layer of re-frozen wet snow ice, which should mean that any routes high up are forming up nicely. Yahoo!

One of the things I love most about climbing is the many and varied forms it takes, from Himalayan peaks to Peak District boulders. On foot, on skis, warm rock, frozen waterfalls, disused quarries, climbing indoors - variety is the spice of life, and within the sport of climbing there is plenty to choose from.
